近日，云城区被广东省文化厅命名为“广东省云石雕刻艺术之乡”，为即将召开的第三届中国http://www.stonebuy.com（云浮）石材http://www.stonebuy.com/科技展览会送上一份厚礼。

　　云城区素有“云石之乡”、“石都”之美誉，有200多年石材http://www.stonebuy.com/开采、加工和生产的历史。据历史资料考证，明清时期，云城就开始进行石雕石刻工艺创作。明末清初时期，云城有居民到海外谋生，他们回来时，带回了一些西方的浮雕技术，并把这些技术融会于传统石雕刻之中，从而逐渐形成了当地独特的云石雕刻艺术。上世纪80年代，在当时县委、县政府的大力支持下，云城的石材http://www.stonebuy.com/业从100家发展到1200多家，其中30%为云石雕刻工艺厂，掀起了云石雕刻工艺业热潮。
